Sing with Night Song in 2026-2027
A unique opportunity for singers interested in early music and chant with a minimal time commitment of only three hours once a month on site, plus preparation time at home.
Night Song is currently seeking experienced volunteer singers for the 2026-2027 season. In person auditions will be held on Sunday, September 13 and 27 from 4:30-5:30 pm at First Church in Cambridge, a sponsor of Night Song. The best fit for Night Song is clear voices with minimal vibrato.
To qualify for an audition please send an email to darylbichel@aol.com with a resume or a summarization of your singing experience and vocal study, if any. Include a short vocal clip of yourself singing a verse of a hymn, part of a choral anthem, or a vocal solo, accompanied or unaccompanied.
Night Song is a weekly Sunday evening compline liturgy that has three distinct choral ensembles - treble, ATTBB, and mixed - each singing once a month. The size of these groups ranges from about 10 to 20 singers. The literature is primarily Renaissance motets, Gregorian and modern chant, and some contemporary anthems, often based on chant themes.
Each ensemble sings only once a month, rehearsing the day of from 5:30-7:00 pm. The rehearsal is followed by a 30-minute break. Night Song is sung at 7:30 pm and concludes around 8:10 pm. Music directors include Holly Druckman and Jennifer Lester. The venue is First Church in Cambridge, which has a fantastic acoustic for choral music and chant.
For further information about Night Song, see www.nightsong.org. The ensembles can be heard on the music schedule page of the website. To apply or ask questions, email darylbichel@aol.com.
