Bainton Sings Bainton
Please join us for an evening of music in "Bainton Sings Bainton," a concert of art songs by Edgar Leslie Bainton. These songs, once lost to history, will be sung by Larisa Bainton, his second cousin's great-great-granddaughter. Brendon Shapiro will accompany the recital on piano.
Edgar Leslie Bainton (1880 - 1956) was an English composer best known for his choral works, but composed many solo voice pieces for his wife (a soprano). He spent the majority of his life in Australia where he worked as an orchestral and choral conductor at the New South Wales State Conservatorium of Music.
This program is supported in part by a grant from the Malden Cultural Council, a local agency which is supported by the Mass Cultural Council, a state agency.
