Lyric Coloratura soprano, Martha Eason, is an ensemble member at the Badisches Staatstheater in Karlsruhe where she will debut this fall as Norina in Don Pasquale, Adele in Die Fledermaus, and Avis in The Wreckers. This fall, she will also make her debut as Sophie in Der Rosenkavalier at the National Theater in Prague.  

Previously, Martha was an ensemble member at the Oldenburgisches Staatstheater. Notable roles include Sophie in Der Rosenkavalier, Norina in Don Pasquale, Gilda in Rigoletto, Controller in Flight, Helmwige/Woglinde/Walkdvögel in Wagner’s Der Ring Zyklus, Amina in La Sonnambula, Gretel in Hänsel und Gretel, und Eurydike im Orpheus in der Unterwelt. 

Martha made her European debut in 2017 on tour with the Komsiche Oper Berlin as Papagena at the Opéra-Comique Paris in Barrie Kosky’s production of Die Zauberflöte. During this season she also covered the role of Ophelia in Brett Dean’s Hamlet both at the Glyndebourne Festival and on tour. As a guest, Martha has also performed at Theater Münster, Oper Leipzig, and Komische Oper Berlin.

Martha is a native of Abingdon, Virginia. She has a rescue dog named Phoebe and is an avid marathoner and trail runner.
